I have heard many arguments for a minimum wage. A minimum wage is a wage which is big enough to live on say some. A minimum wage helps the poor some plead. At least one business owner says she would always pay above minimum wage and every other business owner should support her point of view.

I could state that less than 1 in 6 minimum wage workers lives below the poverty line and that minimum wages are one of the worst ways of targeting the poor. I could tell you about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and about how raising the EITC would target only poor people.

But that is not why I am writing this. You see everyone who supports minimum wage laws has a little dirty secret. They are willing to take your freedom to get their minimum wage. I do not support a minimum wage laws for the same reason I do not support most well meaning laws. I am unwilling to give up my freedom for your opinion.
